Pumpkin colours and shape play
Bring Halloween Circle Time off-screen with an adult-led paper activity exploring circles, triangles, orange, yellow and counting. For little learners aged 1–4.
Print this page or choose Save as PDF in your browser's print menu. This is a free activity guide for grown-ups.
What you need
A sheet of paper and orange and yellow crayons suitable for your child’s age. A grown-up can draw a few large circles and triangles on the paper before you start.
Let’s play together
- Point to one large circle. Say, “A circle! Shall we make an orange pumpkin?”
- Offer a suitable crayon and name its colour. You can draw together or let your child point and watch.
- Find a triangle. Talk about its shape and choose yellow or orange together.
- Count the shapes slowly, pointing to one at a time. Start with a small number and add more only if your child is interested.
- Copy a gentle bat flap from the video, with enough space to move safely.
Follow your little learner
Younger learners may enjoy pointing, a colour word or watching you draw. Children ready for more can find matching shapes, choose colours or count up to five. Use the parts that suit your child and stop when they need a change.
For grown-ups
Supervise drawing and movement. Use age-appropriate materials, keep small objects out of reach and keep the play area clear. The goal is a shared, playful moment rather than finishing a worksheet.
